Mrs. Layton

Mrs. Layton is a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education.  She also attended Truman State University where she received a Masters of Arts in Music.  Her hometown is St. Louis, Missouri but is currently residing in Potosi.  She currently does not have any children, her hobbies include cats, cooking, playing the saxophone in the Mineral Area Community Band, and traveling.

Mrs. Layton

Classes:  
High School Band

The High school Band performs for the home football games, parades and competes in Marching Competitions in the Fall.  In the Spring the band plays traditional concert band music and performs for the school.

Color Guard

The Color Guard performs with the Marching Band in the Fall. They perform choreography written by Mrs. Layton, using flags, rifles, and various pieces of equipment.  They are responsible for putting the music in motion.

 

 

7th Grade Band

7th grade flute, clarinet, saxophone, & percussion are classes that are for first year band students. They spend 50 minutes each day learning the fundamentals of their individual instruments.

 

 

8th Grade Band

8th grade band is a group of students that are the advanced band students.  They have had one or more years of experience on their instruments.  They perform concerts for the school and community.
