Mr. Layton Mr. Layton
graduated from SEMO. He started teaching at Farmington High School, then
taught at Arcadia Valley until 1980. He was employed by Aramco Oil
Company, and went to Saudi Arabia for vocational school for MAC at Farmington Correctional Center.
The school remained open for seven years, and was then discontinued after
budget problems. He taught at Bismarck High School until 2000 and has now
taught at PHS several years. In his free time,
he likes fishing, baseball, and spending time with his granddaughters. He
likes to spend time in his own woodworking shop where he enjoys building
specialty furniture for customers.

General Shop I
General Shop is
designed to introduce the student to a wide range of experience with tools
and materials. The emphasis will be on familiarizing the student with
basic tools and equipment that are used by people in industry. Developing
desirable attitudes and safety habits are emphasized.

General Shop II
General Shop is
designed to introduce the student to a wide range of experience with tools
and materials. The emphasis will be on familiarizing the student with
basic tools and equipment that are used by people in industry. Developing
desirable attitudes and safety habits are emphasized. This is
second semester after General Shop I. |
Woods I
Students will learn to
operate machine tools and hand tools. They are assigned a required project
that includes most of the tools, joints, and different processes used
throughout the year. Fastening and finishing techniques are
taught along with safety rules and clean up procedures.

General Drafting
This is a basic
course in practical blueprint reading. It is designed to aid any boy or
girl interested in the language of drawing. The main objective of this
course is to learn the language of drawing by applying these techniques to
the construction of actual drawings. Each student is required to make
approximately one drawing per day and will be given special drawing tests
using the principles of technical drawing.
