This is her 14th year at PHS. This is her 24th year teaching high school business.   She graduated from SEMO in 1987 with her BS Degree and in 1993 with her master's.  Her and her husband love to travel and she enjoys reading, shopping, being outdoors, and sports.

Classes:  

Business Technology I

The course is designed for the student seeking an entry-level business or managerial position.  Through advanced word processing and computer applications, the students prepares for an entry-level position. the student will also gain experience in career preparation, interviewing, machine transcription, and filing, and electronic calculating machines, Internet and will improve keyboarding skill.

 

Computer Applications I

Computer Applications begins with the basics of word processing and computer use for those who have limited experience with computers.  This course makes students proficient users of the word processing and database software.  This course is recommended for students planning for college or as background for developing vocational skills. 

 

Computer Applications II

Computer Applications II is a semester course designed to provide students with the opportunity to learn spreadsheet and multimedia presentation software.  Spreadsheet applications will enable students to learn how to apply formulas to specific cell locations in order to perform mathematical computations.

Desktop Publishing

This course teaches students how to change ordinary typewritten text into attractive, professional-looking documents using such design elements as:  font faces, font styles, font sizes, graphics, and lines.  Various types of documents will be covered such as:  newsletters, flyers, advertisements, brochures, menus, invitations, etc.  Students will also use digital cameras and scanners to enhance documents.

Supervised Business Experience

This course provides both classroom instructions and on-the-job work experience (off campus) that gives students the opportunity to master academic and workplace skills.  Components such as accuracy of work, production, staying on task, and responsibility will be transferred from the classroom to the "real world" as students work at various training sites in the community.  Transportation is highly recommended for this course.
