About Mr. Richards

Mr. Jerry Richards graduated from Potosi High School in 1977 and went to Southeast Missouri State University.  He graduated from SEMO in 1981 with a degree in Business Education and an emphasis in Marketing.  He has taught at Potosi for 29 years. Jerry has sponsored National Honor Society since 1986, and began sponsoring Student Council in 1989.   In addition to teaching here, he raises Black Angus cattle.  He is a lifetime member of the American Motorcyclist Association, and has ridden motorcycles for nearly 40 years.  He collects toy tractors, and his favorite hobby is exploring new places on his motorcycle.

Classes:

Introduction to Business

Intro to Business is offered to all high school students.  A textbook, workbook, and supplemental materials are used in the course.  It can be taken for a semester or a full year.  This class is designed to help students understand the role of business in our society.  In this class, students will begin to comprehend what their relationship is to business and the economy in which they live.

Personal Finance

Personal Finance is a required class for all juniors.  This one-semester course presents essential knowledge and skills needed to make informed decisions about real world financial issues.  Students will learn how choices influence occupational options and future earning potential.   They will learn to apply decision-making skills to evaluate career choices and set personal goals.  The course content is designed to help the learner make wise spending, saving, and credit decisions and to make effective use of income to achieve personal financial success.
