Mrs. Nixon

She is a native of Washington County and has lived here all her life.  She attended school in the Potosi R-3 School District,  graduating in 1963 from PHS.  She has four children, five grandchildren, and one great grandchild.  She enjoys spending time with her family and is always ready to baby sit when asked.

In her spare time she enjoys reading.  She is a collector of Danielle Steel novels.  She has all of her publications and looks forward to her new ones.  In addition to reading she enjoys doing genealogy.  She has found several relatives that she didn't know existed.

 She is also very active in the local Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6996 located in Potosi.  She has served as the Ladies Auxiliary President four different years.  In 2000, she had the honor of being awarded a plaque for being the number one auxiliary president in the State.  She believes in our country and is always ready to promote Americanism and Patriotism when and where she has an opportunity.

She has taught in the Potosi R-3 School district for the past twenty seven years, prior to that she worked seven years in the district as an Instructional Aide for a total of Thirty Four Years at Potosi.  She taught first grade and remedial math classes for ten years before coming to high school and implementing the Alternative Education Program.  "Nothing gives me more enjoyment than working with students and watching them succeed in meeting their goals."

PHS Alternative

The Potosi High School Alternative Education Program is not a course, but a program that offers students who are identified by criteria and referral to be potential drop outs.  Students are given an opportunity to complete their education.
