Mr. Mike Mapes

Mr. Mike Mapes is an English teacher, Athletic Director, and golf coach at PHS. This is his 19th year teaching. His wife Bev retired from the Potosi Elementary, his son Josh is a teacher at Potosi Elementary and his son Nick is the Superintendent at the Eagle Lake Golf Course. He also has 4 grandchildren, Reagun is in the 6th grade, Aubree is 5, Carmen is 2, and Anniston was born September 30, 2009. Mike enjoys playing golf and working in the yard.

Classes

Practical English I

Practical English I is a full year ninth grade course designed to reemphasize and further develop the previously-learned English skills. Grammar, composition, literature, spelling and vocabulary are stressed throughout the course.

Composition III

Comp III is a junior English course for students capable of above average work. It covers a chronological study of American literature from the Puritans to the present. It also includes writing a term paper and other shorter papers.

Advanced P.E.

Advanced PE is for students interested in the major sports offered in the PHS extra curricular schedule. This class is offered 7th hour and students are assigned to an instructor that will work with them on their sport.
