Mrs. Lisa Smith

She is a lifetime resident of Washington County, MO. She graduated from Potosi R-3 High School. She attended Mineral Area College where she received her associate degree. She then attended SEMO for two and a half years and earned her BS degree in Family and Consumer Sciences. This is her 4th year working for the Potosi R-3 School District. She is currently working as the high school FACS teacher.

She is married and has two children, a daughter and a son. Her and her husband live and own a cattle farm south of Potosi in Washington County. Her favorite pass times are gardening and sewing. She loves to make quilts and sew clothing and she spends her summers canning vegetables from her garden. Her family takes great pleasure in being self sufficient, they raise and produce most of their food. They love the outdoors and enjoy taking care of their farm and animals.

FACS 1 & 2
  • FACS generally prepares youth and adults for family life, emphasizing the acquisition of knowledge and the development of attitudes, standards, values, and skills relevant to individual and family life..

Foods 1 & 2

  • Foods prepares individuals to understand the principles of nutrition; the relationship of nutrition to health and well-being; the selection, preparation, and care of selected foods; meal management to meet individual and family food needs and patterns of living.

Children

  • Children Development, Care, and Guidance prepares individuals to understand children's physical, mental, emotional, and social growth, as well as their care and guidance. Readiness for parenting and pregnancy are also studied.

 

 

 

Housing and Env. Design

  •     This course is intended to improve the quality of life for Missouri's citizens.  The performance competencies in the Housing course taught in FACS program will enable students to:  Construct meaning to physical, psychological, and social needs of housing, communicate effectively with family members, housing agencies and professional housing services, solve problems based upon the needs of housing, and make decisions that support the physical, psychological and social needs in housing in today's society.

Fashions I

  • This is a semester course that prepares students to understand the use of clothing and textile production; the selection, construction and maintenance and alteration of clothing and textile products and the effect of consumer choice on the individual and family.

Fashions II

  • This is a semester course that describes the design, development and production of textile products.  It includes instruction in alteration, maintenance and construction of garments.
